Pre-op Diet & Cheating!

I am having the hardest time not cheating on my pre-op diet!

My surgery is Aug. 8th and I have to do a 2 week, clear liquid only diet. I do really well all day until about dinner time. The thing that gets me is I know some other people get certain food, or only have to do 1 week or 3 days before surgery and still are fine.

What were you allowed on your pre-op diet and how long did you have to do it for? (Im curious cuz doctors are so different!)

Did everyone have willpower of steel and went a full 2 weeks with no cheating???

or does everyone cheat a little bit??

My surgery will be on August 29th. Original date was 22nd but it had to be delayed a week. I was required to do a 3 week liquid diet. This includes protein shakes, plain yogurt, quark, and soups. All has to be puréed and low fat low carb. Because of the delay, I'm starting my 4th week today. For me, it hasn't been so bad because I can get fairly creative with soups. I've lost 14 ponds so far.

Its funny, but I swear this forum lives in my brain!! Haha!!

This particular thread is perfect & just what I needed. I'm on day 3 of my preop shakes only diet.

I need to focus & remember that I signed up for this life style change.

Doing okay. Little pain where they pulled the stomach out from. Morphine is my friend. Leak test around 830am hope i pass im thirsty. Havent slept much.. Im used to sleeping on my side or stomach but cannot do it. All these bells and whistles kept me up most of the night. I an still in recovery and should get a room today is the leak test passes. The nurses are great here. Couple cuties to lol.

Passing the leak test is great news! Why u cant sleep? Is it too noisy? Or the pain is bothering u?

I sleep on my stomach or side and cant do it due to pain..

2 bites if ices is all i can do.

Wow, webchickadee could be a motivational speaker! Have to admit, as I'm getting ready to embark on the liquid diet, I've been thinking, ahhhh, I'll give it a whirl and if it doesn't work, I'll just cheat. I'm going to print out her post and hang it on the fridge. Will get through it now!! :)
