blood type question...

So I am on for August,21, 2013...

It never occurred to me that I have rare blood. O neg, Is there a need for having blood supplies? I'm getting sleeved in MX and a little worried because I read in The "Big" book that bleeding is one of the more common complications??? Somebody talk me down...it's bad enough that I've never had general anesthesia....but losing blood could be muy mal......:)

I too had my surgery done in Mexico, I had some previous health conditions, (diabetes, heat attack, hypothyroid etc), So for me a hospital with a blood bank and an ICU was a must . Most of the Dr.s in Mexico do the surgeries in such hospitals but if I were you I would make certain. Just in case.

and the odds are that even with some blood loss you will not need to be transfused!

I'm pretty sure it won't be a problem....but I'd sure hate to need it. My 16yo daughter is coming with me to help.....I don't know her type but maybe she's my insurance policy....ill have to find out.
