Acrid/bitter taste upon waking?

I'm about 4 days out from surgery, resting at home with no complications (knock on wood). I'm able to sleep regularly without pain meds, however when I wake up in the morning or after a nap, I have a horribly acrid/bitter taste in my mouth. I'm not having problems with reflux, so it's not an acidic taste. Any insight?

When I wake up I feel like I have a terrible taste. Not acid. It's more like I can taste the protein shakes or something ?? I def didn't have the taste before.

I have the same problem. I asked last night at my support group meeting and the nurse said it had to do with the stomach healing and the by products of the healing are expelled through your breath. Can cause a yucky taste or a coated tongue. I have both!
