Well, this was a problem for me. Pre sleeve, I could turn anything into an event just so I could eat my face off. So yesterday, the 4th of July, I ate as normal, but I had a red, white, and blue ice pop. I'm an Iraqi and Afg war vet, so this is a holiday I'm all for. I suppose my response is to have a bite or two of cake, walk around with some ice cream in your bowl, whatever. But just because you're socializing and having fun doesn't mean you have to pig out.

Happy birthday and good luck :)

Well you are only one week out so you need to be careful with your new tummy. I think that maybe you could turn the focus off food and find another way to celebrate? Do a little clothes shopping. Get a pedi and sip some tea? Your food options are so limited and the risk is far greater then the reward. Celebrate your b-day knowing that you made a choice for yourself and you will no longer be a slave to food. You aren't being a party pooper if you are taking care if yourself. Happy 30th birthday!! Welcome to the 30s club!!

I agree with everybody else. Just eat what ur supposed to. U can still hang out with friends and family. Spending time with them. U will learn with ur sleeve life is not about food anymore. Food is only there to nourish ur body and give u energy. That was weird for me to realize. Happy birthday! Being 30 is awesome. I loved turning 30. Hope u have a great time.

Thank you all for all your great advice & birthday wishes! I am actually doing better than I though I would. So far so great! I'm really enjoying myself & my family & friends so much. Taking care of my sleeve as well. Welp, now I'm taking it easy for a few hours since the day has been so busy & active. Hope you all are enjoying this beautiful Saturday btw :)
