My surgery is on July 1st and I'm scared! Kinda having second thoughts about the whole thing. Also...I've been sick with the stomach flu for the past 3 days...leave it to me to get sick a week before major surgery.

Did anyone else almost back out at the last minute?

Hang in there! All of us have those 2nd thoughts, for most of us this was the best thing we ever did for ourselves. Feel better.

I'd sit down and list the pros and cons of having the surgery and not having the surgery, then decide based on the facts rather than fear. Think of as many contingencies as you can and plan on how you will deal with them. The majority on these forums have had positive results, though not all. There will be some pain and discomfort, usually that passed fairly quickly. Are you prepared for this lifestyle change? What's most important to you...your current relationship with food or losing the weight? Do you honestly believe that the surgery is the best/only way to get to a healthy weight? Only you can decide that. I'm five weeks post-op and it has gone perfectly for me. I hope your recover quickly from the flu and wish you the best of luck whatever you decide.

I think it's very normal to have these thoughts! I know I did many times. We are so excited to get this done and wait weeks or months for the big day and when the day gets closer our nerves start! I cried like a baby the day before i was scheduled to leave. I just knew I couldn't do it. I prayed on it all day! However the day came and when i got to the airport all my fears went away. When we got into MX and I seen the hospital, staff and my great surgeon I knew I made the right choice. If i had to go back i wouldn't change anything except that I would have done this sooner!!

I have many friends that have had the surgery here in the states have these same thoughts! I think since we are going to MX we add that plus the normal stress we go in circles. Remember you did your homework, I am sure you have read all the reviews and asked all the questions that you have. You will be fine! ((HUGS)) Hope you get to feeling better!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
