HELP-I'm sabotaging myself before 1st fill

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow I go for my first fill and I'm really nervous. So what do I do?? I sabotage myself by eating a slice of pizza, some Cookies and potatoes. Now I feel like crap and I'm so worried the first fill won't work. Did anybody do this to themselves? Just when I'm doing great and lost around 25-28 lbs in 6 wks, I go and do this. I appreciate any advice.

Lana

You are human. We all are only human and make mistakes. 25 lbs in 6 weeks - I think you are doing fine! One day of bad choices does not define your success with the band. I can assure you that prebanding I could eat 4 slices of pizza and a handful of Cookies. I am sure your first fill will work, although I didn't get good restriction until my 2nd fill. Keep your head up high and remember not to beat yourself up for mistakes or bad choices. Just commit to making a better choice for the next meal.

If you were perfect, you'd be oh so annoying! :croc:

I am so impressed that you have already lost almost 30 pounds! That is quite an accomplishment! Don't lose sight of that--get back on track right away and the numbers will keep going down. You can do it! :clap2:

Does anyone have any suggestions for things to do instead of eating when you get nervous, depressed, or bored??

I've started cross-stitching again to keep my hands occupied during prime snacking time in the evenings...

Transformer - hobbies, hobbies, hobbies - I have taken up learning to quilt, decluttering my home and I am taking a cake decor class in February. Keep busy!

I'm going from playing solitaire on the computer to reading. I'll be so glad to get out of the house tomorrow. My daughters and I are going to the movies/shopping a little.

Aw Lana

I ate everything that wasn't nailed down before my first fill. It was a kind of "last supper syndrome"

You are WAY ahead of where I was - so you ROCK.

Don't panic. You will continue to do GREAT. 1 slice of pizza??? I would be sure to indulge in a slice of pizza at least once a month - for as long as your band will allow it.

Don't panic if you don't have perfect restriction after the first fill, either. It usually takes more than one.

Hugs!!

We all fall, you just have to forgive yourself, build your resolve and make a committment not to do it again. Do a little extra exercise as penance. Remember how much it cost (financially, emotionally, physically, etc.) to get the band and how bad you would feel if you messed it up.

Good luck with your first fill. Kristin

I ate the whole kitchen before my first fill. It gets better afterwards. Believe me it works. The only thing is they told me that the first fill can absorbe into the band so I had to have another about 3 and 1/2 weeks later, but haven't had one since which has been about 4 months. I was told that is how you know you need a fill. You feel hungary even if you have eaten. GOOD LUCK..........

Thank you guys so much for all your support and guidance....it really means a lot. But now I feel even worse - Here I was counting the seconds until my first fill, well I walk into the doctor's office this A.M. only to be told "your appt was last Thursday, the office is closed." I CANT BELEIVE I MISSED MY APPT. I was soooo worried about screwing up that I screwed up! Now I have to wait another week. I hope this isn't some type of subconscious sabotage...But reading all your kinds words made me feel a lot better.

Lana, don't be so hard on yourself. We all do silly things now and then. LIke drink a beer or something like that. Just get back on. Your fill should help. How much do he/she put in? Do you feel restriction? If you overeat with a fill you will PB or vomit. So that may help you next time you reach for that pizza. You're doing fine.

Hey Julie and thank you. My surgeon says he puts 3cc in the first fill so I'm really hoping it works. And you're right about the PB or vomit. I'm so afraid of that happening. I just feel like I'm sinking into the old habits so I just keep counting the days til the first fill - next Thurs. Thank you again and have a happy New Year. Happy and safe New Year to everyone.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
