Really stupid question..

I start my pre op diet in 2 days, so I went shopping for all re and post op items. My surgeon has us going home from the hospital on puréed food. I was reading through my booklet and it says to chew each bite between 25-30 times. Does that go for purée too? I mean, I can't picture chewing yogurt, but are you supposed to? I guess if you chew it then it will water down with saliva? Gross, but I was just wondering! :)

When i ate yogurt and stuff, I just kind of swished it around my mouth a little bit- like you said, to water it down..... that does sound gross when you say it out loud lol

Don't worry about trying to chew yogurt! LOL! Just eat it slowly, savor and enjoy it! Do thoroughly chew any food that one would normally chew!

pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274

Personally since Yogurt and jello are considered "liquids" on some diets, I just eat it normally.

Thanks guys.. I know it sounds really dumb lol. I just want to do everything exactly right, but was too embarrassed to ask my surgeon. I'd rather get laughed at by Internet strangers then my surgeon! ;)
