Feeling weak!

So, I had my surgery Monday, 6/10! He also did a umbilical hernia repair & hiatel hernia repair! I attempted to go back to work 3 days post op, but only made it 3 hours, same thing happened Friday night, only made it 3 hours! When should I start feeling better? I'm also having a hard time getting my protein down, nothing taste good! Any ideas??

First, give yourself a little time. Some people are good to go pretty quickly, but others take a few weeks to be ready to hit the ground running. I'd say that it's probably a good idea to take it pretty easy for at least one week. I've had a number of surgeries, and I'm generally functional in 5 days, and reasonably energetic in 7 days, but not fully back to my usual energy levels for 3-4 weeks.

As far as Protein, it might help if you say what you've tried, and what is bugging you about the taste. Is it the sweetness, an aftertaste, or something else? What protein are you using? Have you tried thinning it down a little to see if having it a bit more dilute helps?

I totally agree with SpaceDust. give yourself some time.

I had my sleeve done on May 30th, so I am only a little ahead of you. I did take two weeks off and went back to work on Thursday. I worked 5 hours and was absolutely exhausted! I worked the same today and it was the same. My upper back gets to me, I also had the hernia repair. Doctor told me to give it about another month and should be better. Hopefully your workplace is understanding that this is a major surjery, your body has been through alot! Good luck!

It took me 3 weeks to feel somewhat normal. I was OK going back to work then. Everyone is different. Give yourself time.

Thanks, everyone! I have figured out how to get some protein down by putting it in instant mashed potatoes! I know I am not following my doctors instructions by do this, but it's working for me! I am feeling much better & trying work again tonight! I'm an ER nurse, pediatrics & adults, so I'm doing 12 hour shifts, I think I'll make it through this one! Fingers crossed! I weighed this afternoon, 6 days out & I'm 9 pounds down! That made me super happy! I am craving Mac & cheese, pizza, a fat bacon cheese burger, but not eating it! I have 13 year old boy/girl twins & they eat whatever they want, along with their father, my husband, so that's been hard! But, I know I can do this! I'm ready to be healthy again! I hope the worse is behind me! Thank you again for your helpful post!!
