I'm 12 days postoperative and have NO desire for food (Jello, Protein drinks, ice pop, broth) and MINIMAL desire for liquids. I know I'm supposed to be getting liquids in non stop but I have severe nausea when attempting to eat or drink. I've already had my anti nausea meds renewed once. I have a call in to my doctor for more meds or allowance of Dramamine. I have had no problems taking pills or keeping them or Vitamins down. I have yet to vomit, just excessive excessive nausea. Since you are having such a hard time getting your liquids in, you may be dehydrated. Being dehydrated can make you very nauseous. You might need some Iv fluids.

I've been having horrible nausea since my second day post op, and I'm now at day 5. Even in the hospital on IV fluids, I constantly felt like vomiting (so in my case it wasn't dehydration, but it can definitely cause you to feel that way). My doctor called in a prescription for Zofran, but it actually made me feel worse.

Try walking and sipping your fluids at the same time. I just walk back and forth from one end of my apartment to the other. I can't explain why it helps, but that's the only way I've been able to drink without vomiting afterwards. I hope you feel better soon!

Those were my experiences as well, it passes !! Hang in there and brace for the later of reining in the desire to eat.

I experienced horrible nausea as well. I did terrible with getting fluids in for the first four weeks following my sleeve, which resulted in my being severely dehydrated and in the hospital on IV fluids several times. After about my fifth trip to the hospital and the realization that as soon as I got the IV fluids going in me the nausea disappeared the lightbulb finally went off and I just forced myself to sip, sip, sip all day long. No matter how tough it seems, getting your fluids in is absolutely vital!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
