  1. Wow the September 10th group is really growing! I'm having mine in Edmond Oklahoma. Where are the rest of you having your surgeries?
  2. Me too! It's exciting knowing its really getting close.i just got my cardiac clearance today! My final requirement!
  3. I just went to my cardiologist today and he has already written and faxed my cardiac clearance to my surgeon! OMG!! That was my last hurdle to go before surgery besides my last appointment with my surgeon on the 29th for my preop blood work and final check. Now I feel like its really going to happen! Yay Raechelle
  4. I have been a preop low carb diet and lost almost 40 lbs. I reached the surgeons goal for me so that's the main thing I've done. I walk 2-3 miles each day. I've been taking Vitamins and a probiotic to strengthen and nourish my body before surgery. I bought some workout pants that are drawstring so I can exercise without worrying of my pants will fall off. I organized my closet and drawers and got rid of old and outdated stuff then arranged things according to size. I plan on making my own chicken and beef broth and freezing them in ice cube trays. I will probably do this in the next few weeks. I hate canned broth! I've been picking up a few used clothing items at thrift stores in smaller sizes and stuff on clearance. I just wanted some summery items for a cruise we have in October and knew this would be my last good chance to grab something.
  5. That's great she is so supportive! I'm sure mine will be there for me too. I'm just not going to tell him till after. He's been my pcp for 35 yrs. I'm married and 51. My kids are 28 and 30. I found out last week that my blood work showed I am nearly a diabetic at my appointment with the surgeon. I knew it was imminent with my weight being so high and a family history of it. It scares the heck out of me. My highest weight was 375 lbs and currently I'm 345.4. I have several comorbidities so I have lots of reasons to have surgery including 5 grand children who need me. I'm walking two miles a day now but it took awhile to build up to that. I had my first appointment with the surgeon on June 17th,
  6. I haven't even told my pcp because I know he hasn't liked. WLS in the past. I love him to death but I wanted this so much and didn't want him to try to talk me out of it. I'm not sure what he knows about the sleeve.
  7. I am glad to meet you Jo! I guess we are going to be sleeve sisters! Maybe we can keep in touch during our journey! I have a nutrition class aug 7th my cardiologist appointment aug 16th and one more support group meeting on August 1st. I also have to lose 8 more lbs. I had to lose 37 lb altogether. I'm working hard to lose it by My nutrition class on the 7th so I can get it recorded that day. I don't have to do a liquid diet until the day before probably because of the low carb diet I'm on now. I hope to be down at least 45-50 lbs ( instead of 37lbs) before surgery.
  8. Yay! I still have a couple of requirements to knock out but I am so ready! I'm having mine in Oklahoma City.
  9. My surgery is scheduled for Sept 10th. Just wondering if anyone else has the same date!
  10. My surgery will be in September sometime. I'm hoping for the 5th but will find out on Wednesday . I can't wait! I'm on a low carb diet to lose preop and I've lost 25 of the 37 my surgeon wanted. It took a little over a month. I'm walking 2 miles a day and doing strengthening exercises. I already feel better!
  11. I can't see why it would be a problem as long as you are healthy enough for surgery. The great thing here is you will have a much easier recover since you've lost weight.
  12. My most embarrassing moment was shortly after i scheduled my first appointment with the surgeon. I took my parents out to eat at Pizza Hut during the noon buffet and the place was packed. I was finished eating and just sitting in my chair and suddenly it collapsed and I fell backwards hitting my head against the wall hard. I was so embarrassed and a few people rushed to help me up but I insisted they let me do it myself. Normally, it would have been difficult but due to the adrenaline rush, I got up pretty well. I just wanted to get out of there so I went straight to pay so I could. The management would not let me or my parents pay. I just said thanks and we left. It definitely made me even more determined to get through my pre-op hoops and have surgery.
  13. Hon if you are coughing and have a virus you dont want to have surgery. You could get pneumonia plus coughing would be awful with the incisions. It is not good to undergo anesthesia if you are ill. Hope you feel better soon.
  14. I am pre sleeve and was put on a low carb diet of protein and non starchy veggies mostly. I am supposed to lose 37 lbs before my surgery on Sept 5th. I've only been on the diet for two weeks but I've lost 15 lbs so far. I am hoping to lose at least 40 lbs though if I can.
  15. Stay strong! Hope you find out soon!
  16. Also another reason is to shrink down your liver so that it is not in the way to do the surgery. Now with that said, I am on a low carb diet to shrink my liver and only have to have cleAr liquids the day before surgery. Mine is not until sept 5th and I am required to lose 37lbs before them. I've lost 14lb in 10 days.
  17. A few of us are starting a new group for those who need to lose 200 lbs
