First Consult is Tomorrow!

I finally got the nerve up to call back the people from the WLSC... I had signed up for a seminar, taken an online survey, and asked for more info.. several times, but always chickened out when they called me.....

Well yesterday I called them back and tomorrow I have a consult appointment, they faxed a boatload of paperwork to me to fill out and have ready.

I will then have the road to insurance approval. Even if I don't have insurance approval, they offer a self pay price of 17,500 for EVERYTHING including the consult and a year of unlimited fills.........

I am nervous about having foreign objects in my body, but I don't want to go the gastric bypass route. I have 2 close friends that went that route and both have done wonderful, but I know it is not for me...... They both say it is the best thing they ever did.... one is about 4 years post op and the other one is 2 years post op.. both started out well over 300lbs and both lost well over 100 lbs.......

Anyway.. I just wanted to post an intro, and thank everyone for all the info.:girl_hug:

I hope to be a bandster in 2007!

Hi there you and I are pretty much on the same road. I had my first appt. on the 17th. Completed my Metabolic panel and sleep Apnea testing today. Seems like a LONG road doesn't it!!? But, for me, it's something I have to at least attempt. I cannot be myself feeling/looking like this. From serious feet ailments to just seemingly moving awkwardly - not like I used to with some class (ha-ha)! We deserve better, though I know I am not as large as alot of women going through this, I'm glad I'm not waiting till that point which I stop living life at all.

I wish the both of us the very best, PLEASE keep me informed (if you would) on your advancements?

Tracie

Tracy,

I saw Dr. Malley today. I also saw the KISS cut out in his office. Too funny! Anyway, I got my surgery date - February 15! I'm freaking out! I didn't have to do a pysch eval but I did get my labs done today. So, all that's left to do is to figure out how to pay for it!

Although I have the cash, I'm still going to look into financing since with my luck, the car will shoot craps, the furnance will conk out or something will go wrong as Murphy's Law suggests. I have to have everyone paid by February 8th so I'll finalize things by the end of this week hopefully.

Let us know when your date is scheduled. I'm anxious to compare notes with you when all is said and done. Good luck.

Sharon

Congrats on your progress, Tracy! Keep us updated! I have my appt. on Jan. 30th and am hoping to finalize the surgery date of Feb. 9th!

Sharon: That is WONDERFUL NEWS!!!!! I have to go to Menorah.. are you going to the Dr.'s Hospital they talked so highly of?

Tracie inCA: GLAD TO MEET YOU! Keep me posted on your progress.

Mary: I'm crossing my fingers for your appt on the 30th...AND that you get your Feb date!

Today, I start following up with the Psychologist and the Nutritionist to get them to fax their letters.

Yes, I will be going to Doctors Hospital. I think I will drive out there just to check things out since I've never heard of this hospital. There was an earlier surgery date available but it was at Menorah and Amy said that wouldn't work for me but I can't remember the reason it wouldn't work for me. Oh well, 2/15 is better for me since I'm out of town next week on business so that gives me two weeks after I get back to get my things together.

I'll keep you posted.

Sharon: I'm with you... I think I found the link for it at one time.. but I'd have to search again..... oh and it is nice to know that maybe Menorah will have a cancellation that I can sneak in on!!!!!!!!! YIPPEEEEEEEE!

GOOD NEWS just happened..... the psychologist CALLED me to say that I was clean and he had his letter ready to fax over, but the intern had to sign off on it too and she wouldn't be in til tomorrow. So TOMORROW my docs office will have his letter and I just emailed the Nutritionist to remind her that it was OK to fax HER letter over (today if possible).........

Tracy-that is grest news.It sounds like things are moving along. I am so glad.Gigi:)

Tracy, I am so excited for you.

I had a seminar appointment to go to but was really sick and could not go. Now I need to schedual for another one. Not sure all of my things will go as fast as yours because I know already that my insurance will not cover it. I will have to get it authorized. Not sure if it will pass thru and I know I can't afford to pay for it on my own.

Lab work is finished. I had a phone assessment with Carol, the pre-op person, at Doctors Hospital today. Due to my overall good health I won't have to meet with the anesthesiologist. Carol left me a voice mail message tonight saying everything is approved and I am ready to go!

I applied for a loan today and I should have an answer tomorrow.

So far, so good. I can't believe how fast things are moving.

Tracy- You're getting closer! Hopefully everything has been submitted and you will have a date for February. I'll keep you in my thoughts and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I was wondering where you were with your journey-so glad you posted an update-Gigi

Monday again.. I have not heard from my doc.... I do know that the nutritionist faxed her the letter on Thursday night, but the insurance guru does not work Fridays and she acts as a nurse on Mondays, so maybe tomorrow I will find out something.... I am on pins and needles here.

Tracy,

It won't be long now. Your dillegence is paying off. Good for you for staying on top of everything. Keep us updated.
