Ok, I am on my 2 day clear liquids..surgery is on Wed. can I have a Diet Coke or a cup of coffee. I woul love some caffeine!! Help!

I dont have any idea what is allowed on the pre-op liquid diet! Didnt your surgeon or nut give you some guidelines? I wish I could help, but I didnt have to do a preop. Good luck on your upcoming surgery!

Yep mine said none too. Both Dr and nutritionist said the sooner I stopped drinking soda and caffiene the better, cos I'm not allowed to drink it at all post op

I am on day 7 as of tomorrow. My pre-op diet doesn't list coffee but tea is an option. Maybe you could get your caffeine that way...

My doctors said no carbonated beverages, but we can have decaffeinated coffee or tea. I'm going to have the worst caffeine withdrawal headache ever! :help:

Yes, the general rule-of-thumb is no soda/pop. Water, water, water is the key...to better health and to weight loss.

My dr definately told me no soda...however I could have coffee and I did (i am a coffee adict) it wasn't too hot...i made sure of that and I had no problems...best wishes

Mine said no carbonated drinks before or after. They tend to Stretch the stomach. But he said coffee is ok.

I was told no soda for at least four months and then if I want it I have to let it sit in ice so most of the carbonation dissolves.

I was a big diet coke junkie before being banded and quit two weeks before surgery on Dec 5, 2006 in case of headaches. I don't miss it at all.
