I travelled on the Sunday to stay in a hotel, hospital for pre-op testing on Monday and op on Tuesday, the co-ordinator met us in the hotel and told us to go and eat in the hotel restaurant and to eat what we wanted. As we had been on a pre-op diet for 2 weeks it was a wonderful treat. I had my op in Europe.

Haha I wish! The standard is 24-72 hours liquid diet pre op to flush your system but most importantly to shrink your liver.

Everyone's pre-op diet is different. Mine was 2-3 shakes a day and a low fat, low carb meal. This was up until the day before surgery, then nothing starting at midnight. It is always the best course to follow what your doctor laid out, not what other's did. Good luck!!

No, I was told be be on clear liquids 3 days before the surgery so no food. I think everyone's doctor and instructions are different though, you should probably check with them, they may just say nothing in your tummy after midnight :)

My date is set in June my MD will give me my pre/post op diet soon I hope. My mom had the gastric bypass and she had to go to a support group prior to the surgery and she said most people were saying "they had a last meal" the day before. I was just wondering everyone's thoughts. I know doctors orders are best but just wondering everyone's thoughts and experiences. Thanks for your thoughts.
