Force protein or just get liquid in?

Had surgery 6 days ago..because I haven't been getting in at least 20g of protein, I'm trying to only do protein shakes today. Still haven't completed 1- 11oz. Muscle milk... Yesterday i was eating sugar-free Popsicles and jello as well.. It's hard.. I feel full and hungry at the same time. ????

  • At six days out liquid is most important so you don't end up in the hospital for dehydration. Protein is something you will build up to in the weeks to come.

  • I've been drinking one Isopure drink a day. 40g protein. You can get them at GNC.

  • Fluids first for sure! It gets easier, don't worry

Im pretty new so i don't know if this will work for you and maybe u can ask the vets but my doc sed that the pure Protein called new whey it comes in diff flavors i got the watermelon one they sell it in walmart it has 42 grams of protein and is 170 or 180 cal i poured 2 of those in a liter of smart Water which thinned out the thick syrup taste and wasn't that bad maybe u could try that then ur getting protein and Fluid at the same time

This is my14th day I mix a scoop of protein mix with my boost. It is thick but not to bad. I am never hungry but my mouth is very dry if I talk a lot and I have a teenage son so I am always talking

Are you taking unflavored protein? I bought some and it made me gag..just the smell

I think it just comes with time. I am slowly getting my Protein in. I have to switch it up though. Once day I will drink Pure Protein (25g) in Frosty chocolate with Water & then the next day I will have nectar flavored protein. I just get bored easily so I have to switch it up but I can only get in about about maybe 30 grams a day. But I am slowly increasing daily.

I can't do unflavored protein it makes me gag..all the protein shakes I were drinking before makes me gag.. I'm eating Greek Yogurt with 12g..also I found the moo milk at HEB ( not sure if you have one) and it also has 12g... If you try anything else let me know

Thanks everyone

My favorite protein drink is Injury unflavored mixed in to HEB Mootopia skim milk with a squirt of lite chocolate syrup. Very tasty -have one first thing every morning. Followed by 0% Greek yogurt with little fruit and granola. I use a dash of Truvia and let it sit for awhile to soften the granola.
