Pre op diet questions

Why are there so many diff types. My girlfriends was 10 day..I'm 5 days. But I'm reading on these forums. Some people don't have to any. One girl wrote she was eating lobster the day before. So who's right?

Depends on the physician. I have a 2 week liquid diet. You'd think it'd be the same across the board!

It more or less just has to do with what the individual surgeons and NUT's believe is best. Some of them use the preop as a preparatory phase for the patient to better be ready post op for what they have to do the first couples weeks especially.

I was told it is up to the surgeon. My surgeon has a 4 week requirement. I just scheduled my surgery for 5/15 and started it Friday. She did say my labs & overall health would qualify me for a shorter preop period, but she didn't have anything available.

Lobster is actually pretty low fat, seafood in general is healthy. As long as she didn't dip it in butter! Lol
