Ketosis. It sucks. I'm in the same boat - my surgery was the day after yours. Everything tastes nasty! http://www.webmd.com/oral-health/features/low-carb-diets-can-cause-bad-breath

Yup, Ketosis. I have been using the Listerine Breath Strips (very strong, I cut them in half) whenever in public.

So since I started my preop diet I have had a horrible taste in my mouth. One morning my sweet 5 year old son son asks "Mom why is your breath so stinky?" I told him I didn't know but that I had a bad taste in my mouth. I have commented a couple of times on this bad taste and my husband will lovingly tell me that my breath is bad. I brush my teeth and use listerine mouthwash regularly but still with little improvement. WHY??? I've never had bad breath for no apparent reason and now it seems like I can't get rid of it. My NUT told me that I couldn't chew gum and I don't think hard candy to freshen my breath is necessarily a good idea. Anyone know what is causing this kickin breath or what I can do to improve it? I've started taking my calcium and vit D with breakfast and my multivitamins at supper instead of alone and that has helped a tiny bit but still... And will it ever get better???
