How much food is too much?

So I will be two weeks post op on the 8th and I'm wanting some feedback on a couple experiences I'm having.

I breezed through the first ten days of liquid Protein consumption with few difficulties. I got cleared to phase three (yogurt, pudding, cream of wheat) on Thursday. They say I should aim for a quarter cup but if I eat more than a tablespoon I get HORRIBLE heartburn! Can I attribute this to just over filling my stomach? Has anyone had a similar experience they can share?

Also I have what feels like a pulled muscle and wonder if I'm ignoring a potential hernia. Mostly it's when I bend over or move from sitting to standing and vice versa. So I'd love to hear if anyone's had that going on as well...

are you on a gastric-protective agent (which will help prevent heartburn) such as Prilosec, Prevacid, or Nexium?

I'm having the same pain experience and am worried about the hernia thing too. Same circumstances: sitting, standing, bending. I've had it since Thursday after lifting a 30 or so pound box. I think I'm going to call the nurse today.

No, not taking anything like prilosec, just popping tums when things get bad. Really though I would rather prevent the heartburn before it starts if possible...

I would let your doctor know. They can prescribe something for your heartburn. I was on protonix for the first 3 months.
