Cost per serving

So, I am pre-op but decided to start sampling Protein beverages in advance so I'll have some on hand that I predict I'll be able to tolerate for my post op. Or at least know where to get them.

So I went to GNC & got 4 Isopure drinks, found mybariatricpantry.com which will sell you samples of the Syntrax matrix & nectars shake powders & ordered some unjury samples also.

I am shocked at the pricing of cost per serving. The samplers were less than 20$ and came with 8-10 samples from the pantry website & the unjury was 20$ for 4 samples. Gnc local store had the isopure bottles 5.99 each, their website had them for 3.99+ shipping.

Just wish I had wraped my head around this cost in advance. I know that I will most likely be having these in leu of a real meal but woah- 5.99 for a bottle-1serving!

Yeah, that's a lot! I use the premier shakes from costco. A case of 18 is about $23, or about $1.27 each. I'd still be drinking them even if they were more - they are by far the best, at least for me. I had lots of other stuff, but just couldn't tolerate any of it.

I use isopure powder and split the serving it's 50 grams whey isolate , I use 25 at a time. 3 lbs $45.00 about 1.15 a serving 110 calories 1.5 carbs

$5.99 a serving. Hmmm...isn't that how much it costs to eat a meal out? LOL I am about a month and a half out and don't use protein drinks anymore. I get almost all my protein from chicken.

I get the 2 lb tubs of Syntrax Nectar for $27.55 - with 35 servings per tub - that comes out to 79 cents per serving for the protein powder.

I'm 5 months out and still buy the Isopure drinks, but i drink 1 about every 2 days and about 2 a week so it's not to bad. There was no way at first I could have drank a whole one as 1 serving, it took me at least a day to drink 1. Also as you can add in food you will need less and less since you can get it out of your normal meals. Good Luck
