yup

No not really. No real nutritional value, as they are mostly starch -> carbs. There are healthier alternatives to potatoes.

What does your plan suggest? I am on the stage 2 liquids for a month after surgery and then at 4 weeks out I start on the soft/pureed foods which includes mashed potatoes, etc. What is your diet progression like. Following your surgeon's diet plan is your best bet. I don't mind this phase and having to learn a lot with what I can handle before feeling full. I will start soft foods right before Easter so at least I can some of what the family is eating then. Hope this helps or makes sense.
