I am scheduled for banding Jan 15. My insurance (BCBS of NC) has denied my request for surgery :girl_hug: stating that it is experimental, although I am told that BCBS pays for it in other states. I plan to go ahead with my surgery while in the process of appealing. Doesn't sound like to me that BCBS has a leg to stand on. Thanks to everyone who suggested an attorney!!:heh:

well, i'm having surgery in january too, my insurance didn't payed the surgery so i schedule my surgery in Tj because they give very good prices and a good financial system, the doctor is well recommended so i dont worry a lot, you should visit Dr Kelly's page www.obesitybusters.com

Good luck with the surgery

I also have Blue Cross Blue Shield...I havent had the Lap Band done yet, but was going too, but the gastric was covered and NOT the Lap Band...BUT guess what?? It is covered now in 2007...so I advise you check now to see if it is covered, because they make changes every year....and my Anthem BCBS announced it now covers the band...hope this helps..thanks and good luck!
