Diarrhea! CHA CHA CHA!

Okay... so time to get personal!!! Ever since surgery, I've had TERRIBLE diarrhea. Has anyone else had this? How long did it last? Because I'm HURTIN'! OUCH!

If you search "diarrhea" you will see there are numerous threads concerning this topic. :(

Unfortunately, the short of it, is: liquids in=liquids out

Hope, things "run" smoothly and it goes away soon. Before long, you may very well be constipated due to all of the Protein. Yikes.

I was wondering if my body was absorbing the fluid I have been drinking! I know this is kinda personal too but my urine stinks sooooo bad! I wonder if I'm getting dehydrated from the diarrhea....

It could be that but the vitamins they make your urine smell.

Color might be a better indicator. Also, just wanted to mention that i was fine..no diarrhea EXCEPT with one powdered Protein ...vanilla ON whey isolate from costco. All the other powders and premixes were fine... Seriously had no issues with 100 oz or more of broth, tea, Water, shakes and popsicles. I could drink that one shake and within 30 min i was racing to the rest room. Good luck for working it out!

I didn't have a diarrhea issue. Like another poster stated, it could be the Protein you are using. I have noticed, post-op, my tummy really dislikes vanilla protein. A lot.

Word to the wise: don't underestimate a fart at this point. :)

I drink a couple of different flavors and brands and do well. You could try a different brand and see if that changes.

The urine smell....just know you MUST get your liquids first, then protein. If your urine is dark, not enough liquid. I can say that when I am getting enough protein, my urine seems thick? Sounds weird, I know. I really have to keep an eye on my Water intake because I don't get thirsty. Even after walking for 2 hours.

The doctor warned me that stool is often foul smelling during the liquid diet phase after surgery. If you are in the early stages, never fear, constipation will soon be your boon companion. What you are suffering now is normal according to my doctor. I would suggest that you get some A&D ointment and apply it every time you go potty. It looks like Vaseline. If you put some on the toilet paper and wipe with it, it will immediately soothe the area and keep you from being burned the next time you go.

Good idea!
