Prilosec AND Zantac?

I was prescribed Protonix for my PPI post surger (about 6 weeks ago). It isn't working after doubling the dose (morning and night) and using Gaviscon as needed. My surgeon recommended I switch to Prilosec. I know Prilosec won't help with the symptoms I have NOW. Can I take a Zantac and then start my Prilosec tonight? Thoughts?

A pharmacist would be able to answer that question. Chewable papaya enzyme works well and very quickly as well.

I'm taking both -- Prevacid in morning and night and Zantac in the evening.

I am 3-1/2 wks. Post-Op and checked in with my Dr. Today regarding heartburn and acid reflux, she prescribed 40 Mg. of Prilosec and 1 Zantac 150 mg mid-day....She did say that I will need to add the chewable Calcium as the Prilosec is a protein pump inhibitor that somehow destroys/cancels the Calcium in the body...Hope this helps and good luck...
