Port Replacement Today!

I had my port/tubing replaced today and all went well. The surgery itself was only about 45 minutes and I was in recovery for about the same amount of time. I am not NEARLY as sore as I was after I was banded. I am even able to lay in bed on my side! Wooohoo! I am taking tomorrow off and will head back to work on Monday.

My doc gave me the port/tubing he removed so I can get it sent back to Inamed for testing. I was thinking of maybe taking a pic of it and posting it. Anyone interested??

How wonderful that you are doing so well and have a sincere and responciable Doctor. What a double blessing. I just talked to Don Mills at Inamed yesterday who said that they will open a case and get back with me as my Vanguard band has leaked. You know the disappointment. I sure am in morning (can't sleep) after 30 months of faithful service. The fluoroscopy showed it blowing out at the band but I guess they will not know for sure till they go in. I am concern because I am 30lbs away from "normal BMI" that my UHC may not pay for a replacement band. Maybe you could tell me how the Inamed process works and what steps you had to take. It's very unclear to me. Forexample, if yourproblem had been a manufactuing poblem, would they help pay for or partof the replacement surgery?

My sincere thanks in advance for your insight and sharing.

I'm not sure what Inamed's exact process is. When it was discovered I *might* have a leak I emailed Inamed and they opened a case file to track the problem. They sent me a letter explaining this to me and asking me to send the part that was removed to them for examination. The person I was in contact there with was Steve Gonzales I believe.

Let me know if I can help!

I am so happy to hear your surgery went well. I need to have a port relocation surgery due to a flipped port and am pretty nervous about it. Thanks for posting - I feel much better about it now and just want it over and done with. Am waiting on my appointment but should be in the next week or two.
