Period question....

Ok this may be totally unrelated, but...

I have had the Mirena IUD since Jan 2011. Up until surgery it has given me nothing but pain, however I had virtually NO period. I started my period 3 days after surgery so that would've been 12/27 that I started. I have had more bleeding now than the past 4-5 months combined. It has been 11 days now and I'm still going. It's also a really nasty brown color. (Sorry if that's TMI)

The good news is that the pain I used to have is gone.

Just curious if anyone else experienced anything like this?

Deffinately NOT unrelated... its due to the hormones (estrogen) being released from all those fat cells ur burning up! The brownish stuff is just old blood thats been sitting since u havent had a period in a while... no worries n it should get lighter n (im hoping) stop again... i got my mirena in oct 11 n vsg in apr 2012, hadnt had a period in mos... had a pretty bad one after surgery then a few that were not horrible missed a month just had one that was on a day, off a day, back on a day... lol... its really irregular... that to me is the worst part... but it deff has slowed down... im assuming as the fatburn/hormone release slows... n im pretty sure will go away again once that levels off (which hopefully wont b for another 70ish lbs) ... good luck!
