Post Surgery Greetings from NYC!

Hello!

Glad to have found this site, and reading through the posts I found the whole range of thoughts and feelings I've had -- pre and post surgery -- about the process! Here are my stats:

Pre-op weight: 288

age: 38

sex: M

I had my surgery on Tuesday, 10.24 and am just returning to work this morning (BOOO!). My surgeon was Dr. Shah @ Lennox Hill Hostpital (broth or Jello down without feeling full. But, that quickly passed and I moved on to tomato Soup and applesauce and cottage cheese, etc. I definitely recommend taking a week off work, just for your own peace of mind! I feel almost normal again, except for the following:

I AM TOTALLY CONSTAPATED! Actually, I'm not sure it's constipation because there is no pain or discomfort, but i'm used to going #2 at least 2x per day and now i've gone 2 days without going #2! (Sorry for the graphic details, but It's troubling me!)

I can't seem to figure how to get the weight loss meter at the bottom of my posts! any guidance would be greatly appreciated! Also, if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

LM

Hi,

Constipation was a problem for me too after surgery, but once I started to eat salads and vegetables it was okay. Also, if you are doing protein shakes, they are very constipating. Good luck.

Fran

Welcome!

I live north of Houston but have an uncle who lives in Saratoga Springs, NY close to the race track. I have similar stats as you, I'm 41, male and at 280 now, down five pounds since surgery.

Don't worry about the constipation, it will pass as you eat more substantial food and as for the number of times you've been going to the bathrrom I know exactly what you mean. It makes sense to me though, I had my surgery on the 23rd of October and haven't had any fills but now I eat so much less it's crazy. Eat less, go less.

I don't know about you but I have been tempted to eat more chewable food since I feel so much better but have resisted and have been following the doctors orders. I'll get to that point soon enough.

As far as the ticker tape at the bottom I must confess I had my wife do mine, shes better at that kind of stuff than I am.

Good Luck!

Hi LM and welcome to LBT, am glad you found us! It sounds like things went well with your surgery. As for the constipation, I hear you loud and clear! I have been constipated a lot since having my surgery. I have found that taking a small amount of milk of magnesia just before going to bed works great.

How to get a ticker in your signature

Using TickerFactory as an example:

1. Go to www.tickerfactory.com

2. Click on Weightloss

3. Select a ticker ruler. Veiw all available by clicking on the page numbers. Once you have selected the one you want to use, click Next.

4. Select a ticker slider. Veiw all available by clicking on the page numbers. Once you have selected the one you want to use, click Next.

5. Select the measure of weight that you use. (pounds or kilograms)

6.If you wish the ticker to show your current weight and count down to your goal weight, select Weight.

7. If you wish the ticker to show only the amount of weight you wish to lose and how much you've lost, (not your current or goal weight) select Weight Change.

8. Enter your starting, current and goal weights, and then click Next.

9. You will now be on the final page with the codes to copy for pasting into your signature line on LBT.

There are a couple of ways put the code into your signature line on LBT. Here is one option...

1. Highlight the text in the bbCode box, leaving off the URL codes. See diagram below:

attachment.php?attachmentid=3888&d=1142631051

2. Go to LBT and click on the Quick Links button at the top of the page, select Edit Signature.

3. Click in your signature box and type Ctrl+V to paste it in.

(Ctrl+V or Ctrl+A or Ctrl+C all mean to hold down the Ctrl and specified letter key at the same time)

Another option for pasting the ticker code into your signature line:

1. Highlight and copy all of the text in the url box like this:

attachment.php?attachmentid=3890&d=1142631073

2. Go to LBT and click on the Quick Links button at the top of the page, select Edit Signature.

3. Select Edit Signature.

4. Click on the Insert Image icon like this:

attachment.php?attachmentid=3891&d=1142631295

5. Before clicking in the box below "Please enter the URL for your image:" hit your delete or backspace button on your keyboard to clear the box.

6. Click inside the box and type Ctrl+V to paste in the copied url. Then click Ok. This will place the ticker into the signature line.

Now click on Preview Signature to see if everything is how you want it. If it is, click on Save Signature.

Hi LM and welcome! They sell proetin shakes with Fiber, that might help. They also now sell very fine and clear fiber which you can add to the smoothies. Start with adding just once a day adn see...then you might need two doses of fiber or three, but so not overdue it. Remember to drink your water! Congratulations..youa re doing great!

And by the way..it's great to see some guys here!:clap2:

Thank you everybody for your support and assistance! The constipation has, in fact, "passed" (hee hee) and I finally feel normal. Getting ready to go to the doctor for my first post-op check up next week!
