Ladies--Menstrual Cycle Issue

Hello Ladies,

I was sleeved on 12/12 and before that the drastic change in my diet had changed my menstrual cycle (every 2 1/2 weeks twice before surgery). Post surgery, I started on the 15th and haven't stopped. Anyone else have this issue? I know that there is a lot of trauma to the body but I am just wondering when I will get back to normal? I will contact the doc by Friday if it hasn't stopped. Talk about losing iron. Ugh!

Thanks!

Definitely call your dr to be safe but I was told that the estrogen in the fat cells can really screw with your period. As you loose weight that estrogen gets released. To some it can toy with your menstrual cycle. I know the change in eating habits I started prior to the preop liquid diet made my period come a week early. Then I got it again 4 days postop and two weeks early. It last 2 days longer than normal. So i do think that the stress of surgery plus the estrogen csn effect us.

But again only your dr can answer that for sure.

Good luck!

I was sleeved,on 11/12 every other week ive had my period until this last 2 weeks . now ive haf it 2 weeks and today its worse then ever and feel like crap

I was sleeved 11/5 I have my cycle the 1-4th usually. I noticed the other day I had discharge as if I was on my cycle just for a day and nothing the next day. I was concerned about this too I was gonna ask my surgeon tomorrow

Thanks Ladies. I emailed my doctor and she did say that it is common. If it continues for a month, then I need to make an appointment. It is simply surgery and diet change shock. Joys!
