Medications

Has anyone been sent home after surgery with medication other then pain killers? My surgeon told me he called in a blood thinner twice but the pharmacy keeps telling me they don't have the order, as in its never been placed.

I am just wondering if I that med is something I absolutely need. If so I would need to call him on Xmas.

Yes , blood thinners are very important after surgery. You don't want a blood clot for Christmas! I had a two week supply of lovenox injections, not too fun , but better safe than sorry!

Doctors differ greatly on this topic. I only had blood thinners while in the hospital. I only came home with pain medication.

But your doctor feels like it's right for you, so I'd call him if I were you.

I was given blood thinner injections while in the hospital, but not after that. I was sent home with pain meds, too.
