My surgery is on monday and i got a call from my doctor today saying that my ekg was abnormal. I had that done 2 hours after having the egd last Monday. I have never had a problem with my heart and i was ok enough for them to put me to sleep last week. Absolutely terrified they are going to cancel my surgery. Has this happened to anyone else before

Yes, my EKG came back abnormal and I was terrified also. At my pre-op appointment he sent me that same day to a cardiologist to have another one done. That one came back fine. The cardiologist also looked at the first one and said it was not very bad. He went over the risk factors with me and said I was approved for surgery.

My was abnormal I got sent to a a specialist I had to wear a heart monitor for 2days stress Test and ultra sound of my heart every thing came out fine I just have PVcs like palpitations in my heart but a healthy heart can have that as well they might run more tests that's might delay you alittle but it's worth it

Cause not knowing is worst that bother me the whole while until I got my results

I think the surgeons are just very cautious to cover their butts in case something happens. My dad died of a massive heart attack at age 51 so my surgeon said that concerned him and he just wanted to be sure. He said they usually check out okay. My surgery was already scheduled and he said he was leaving it like it was unless he heard a negative from the cardiologist. I knew when I left the cardiologist that I was cleared. So at least you probably won't have to wait to find out after your appointment tomorrow.

I had that happen just a few weeks ago. They called me in to have a second one done before they cleared me for my surgery on 12/17. Wait for the second set of tests to see what they say.Keep positive thoughts!

The doctor said that ekg was normal just slightly different from my last. He is going to do.a stress test at 8 this morning just to prove to my surgeon I am fine. Will find out of am cleared or not abt 10

For others, I was GOING to say, remember if it is cancelled or postponed for a heart concern, it's for your own safety.

It's like when the airplane is delayed for a mechanical issue. I always think, "take your time and make sure it's right... I'd rather get there late than not at all!"
