Pulmonary Clearance?

Can anyone tell me what this is and why I need it. The surgeons office sprung this on me last minute. They said my insurance requires it. I have this set for 12/21. The last thing I had to do was psych eval on 12/6. Guess I can wait a little longer.

    They my surgeon requires pulmonary clearance. They want to make sure your lungs can handle it. You'll do some breathing tests with the respiratory therapist. Then probably see the doctor. Mine sent me home with an overnight pulse ox to check for sleep apnea. If you need it in would definitely try and get in ASAP in case they want to do more tests.
