I can see why you were upset. A time and a place exist for EVERYTHING. Your friend was out of line for that because their is a proper way to talk to someone about something so sensitive as weight and weight loss surgery. People really think it is that easier...it's not!

Well I ment to say her aunt not my friend she put her aunt up to it after she already had spoken to me but they where together at the store

I know the feeling..I have one friend (also my sisterinlaw) that I hesitated to tell because she likes to inform everybody and their brother about my business afterward. I felt guilty for not including her, after all, I call her sister so I told her a few weeks ago. Since then, it's been nothing but gloom and doom and did I see this or that in the news (all bad stuff she thinks will happen to me)??? I wish I wouldn't have told her now..

  • 5 weeks later...

Thats not a friend. You would be well served to never see that person again.

  • 6 months later...

This is crazy, I've had similar things happen to me. People are crazy and too opinionated. I had to "educate" a ton of people on the subject, it was annoying but it was the only way for people to understand me & what I was doing. The doctor who did my pshyc eval said to get those negative, unsupportive people out of your life. I'm glad your strong enough to over look them.

Strong enough and guess what now there so supportive ... I'm 6 months out and loss 100 pounds with only 14-20 pounds to my goal they see that I'm so happy and maybe they where scared but now that I've had it done things have changed between us all good things .. So to the new sleevers keep pushing for your dreams don't let anyone stop you from what u deserve and that to be healthy

Awesome girl!

I concur--sometimes the best and only answer is to be the example of a healthier you. Way to go 6 months and 100 pounds!!!!!

Some people are just negative. I haven't come across too many of them, but when I do I politely thank them for their concern, and go about my day. It's not their decision, and I don't regret getting the surgery one bit. They can think whatever they do, it doesn't really matter to me when I think about that I'm not in the hospital because I didn't get diabetes because I finally lost the weight by VSG or something along those lines.

Which is why I'm a closet sleever. "Ain't nobody's business but my own."
