Pre-Op Diet Headache

I'm on Day 2 of pre-op diet of protein shakes and clear liquids. How have/are you managing the headaches? Trying not to use Advil as I'm supposed to be off it 5 days prior to surgery. Surgery is on 11/20/12, 6 days away and I don't want to take the Advil being so close. Help!

Can you take tylenol? Drink lots and lots. Get really well hydrated before you go into surgery. When the caffeine and toxins are leaving you, it causes great pains in some people. Some of it, unfortunately, you have to bear through... It should stop soon though. usually only a day or two.

Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate the support. Will ask about Tylenol.

I made the mistake of going cold turkey with caffeine and sugar. The worst headache I ever had. If you are a big caffeine or reg pop drinker like I was then you have to ween yourself off of it. It took a couple of days, but wow much better than the headache. Ask your NUT about it. and also ask about tylenol. Good Luck
