Traveling Post-Op

How soon did you travel after being sleeved? I am scheduled for surgery 11/19 and contemplating riding in a car for 8 hours to visit family for Thanksgiving? What are your thoughts?

The main thing to be concerned with is the development of blood clots. It is recommended you refrain from traveling soon after surgery, if all possible. If you do have to drive, I read in my post-op

The main thing to be concerned with is the development of blood clots. It is recommended you refrain from traveling soon after surgery, if all possible. If you do have to drive, I read in my post-op manual to stop and walk for a minimum of 5 minutes EVERY hour. I am traveling from Arkansas to Texas to have my surgery done and I opted to fly instead of making the 5 hour drive.

Imaginemeskinny please speak with your doctor about your travel plans. I am 2 months out now but my surgery was 2 and 1/2 hours from my home and my doctor required me to stay in a hotel local for 3 days after my surgery... Blood clots are a big concern and to be on the safe side check with your doctor to make sure it will be okay

Yes thank you, I am flying 2 days after surgery about 4 hrs, and I was wondering about traveling after surgery.
