Taking Orlistat

Hi Folks,

I took Allie, an over the counter version of Xenical before the surgery ( I am 2 weeks post-op) and was wondering if I can continue to take it (after opening up the capsule and disolving the small pellets in water.) Has anyone done this? I take it mostly because it helps me tremendously with bowel movements as I am very prone to constipation especially with this pre-op liquid diet.

Thank you.

Goodness. You are braver than I.

Several years ago I took ONE of those and my client brought me a donut when she came in for her appointment. Don't want to be rude, right? So I ate the stinking donut.

YYUUMM,..NO. there was a homicide in my stomach for the rest of the day. Terrible. I stayed in the restroom for the rest of the day. :(

I can see how it will help with the BM's, but doesn't it work to block fat and that's why you are going to the restroom? No fat = no poopy. Maybe a supplement that encourages bowel movements? I see several people posting on here drinking smooth move tea and a couple of other options.

I'm sure your doc can tell you his preference, if in doubt. I don't think I would want something as aggressive as Alli.

Hope you find something that keeps things moving. :)

I would ask ur surgeon.
