How Do I Set A Goal?

I have met with my nutritionist a few times and always forget to ask how to set a goal weight. I thought it would be part of the education for the surgery but it has not. What did you all do?

Usually your doctor sets a goal weight based on your height and frame. my NUT didn't set mine.

That is a really good question! I set my goal. It was higher than what my doctor said by 20 pounds but I felt my best at 160/155 which I weighed five years ago. But that is a really good thing to question. And I think there is a lot of "play" with the goal weight. For me- getting down to a size 11/12 or even a 9/10 would be a dream come true. And there is so much to consider- bone size, how do you carry your weight, body fat ratio, and comfort in your own body.

You have to pick something you feel comfortable with. All I did was pick the number that put my BMI just within normal range.

My normal was 150. I wanted to be 5 below that. I hit that goal in Feb. I am now 119. I just let my body pick a stopping point. I figure we will gain 5-10 pounds as we raise calories and eat a bit more with time.
