my taste buds changed a lot after surgery. It did get better, but I still have things that I can't take even though I used to love them. I can't drink water as my pouch won't accept it. So, my go to drink is crystal lite iced tea. I actually started drinking it prior to surgery and that did make it a little easier. As for drinks with protein. None of the ones I liked prior would work for me now. I drink GNC's Lean Shake (chocolate). It as 25g protein and only 2g sugar. I haven't really tried to drink anything else. I accidentally took a sip of my husbands soda and almost got sick and I used to drink TONS of soda. Can you drink water at all? Or even use less of the packet stuff you tried. I do water down my tea as I don't like it full strength. I am not sure if I helped at all, but I hope I did. Best of luck to you.

My mouth taste as if I have been eating nickels and pennies. I have never liked crystal light and That has not changed. In the past would have enjoyed sf hawaiian punch, now it's horrible. I am ok with protien. Right now is EAS carb advantage. I just wished I could get rid of this taste in my mouth. Yuck yuck yucky .. Anything I drink just taste so bad.

You are in ketosis that is why e dry thing tastes like metal

About all I can handle is Cranberry Juice, Orange juice and Tang.... I used to love Propel..not anymore....everything is too sweet.... And everything I drink has to be really cold. I can handle the premium protien drinks from costco but they have to be really really cold... Weird how tate buds have changed....

It's weird that they keep changing too. I'm about 3 1/2 years out and I still find things that I used to love that I have no desire for anymore.

I agree you're probably in Ketosis. Try adding some carbs into your diet and see if that helps. I know I have a terrible taste in my mouth if I am in Ketosis.

Help what is ketosis? Is it something I'm doing wrong? Should I be doing something else? What causes this? Is it dangerous to me and my sleeve ?
