Hi All! :}

I'm in the Ithaca area & going through Cayuga Med with Dr. Bollo. Just curious if there's any others out there!

  • Hello! I'm up in Syracuse! I don't think there are very many of us from the CNY area on here. Are you scheduled yet?

I go to support group in elmira even though dr simon is my surgeon because i live almost 2hrs from syracuse :) ...one more month to go!

I don't go to the local support meetings bc I'm on one side of the lake & they are on the other' date=' & the meeting is held just after I get out of work. I'd like to make one before I hbe surgery, but idk if it will happen. Maybe now that the semester is ending & I'll get out a little earlier....

I have found great pockets of support online, luckily. :}

I live in Constantia by the lake. I heard there is a meeting in Oswego I might try to go to also. It is cool to hear the losers stories :)

That's exciting! Good luck!

Just a little update- I wish you all well- I will be converted to bypass (most likely) on Monday by Dr. McDonald and Dr. Kim at Upstate! I'm excited for all your upcoming surgeries!! :)

Well, I finally heard & it's not great news. I was denied bc my coordinator jumped the gun & submitted with missing pieces of information. They obviously didn't read the bulletin from Aetna which specifically states that they req 2 consecutive years wts. They only had medical records from 2009, which means I've been lied to &/or given misleading information multiple times by Aetna & my surgeons coordinator & her assistant. Last wk I had to re-request my records for my dr office (from old dr), which makes me crazy bc why did no1 realize that only having 2009 records was odd?!?? I switched drs a year ago. Im uber frustrated.

So now, we wait for the records...& hope it's not too late for the appeal...bc I've lost my trust in my coordinator at this point.

I am so sorry to hear this! You must be really upset!! :( :( I hope that you can appeal and it's successful. Seriously, it's not your fault that they didn't send the right stuff- you shouldn't be punished for it!! Grrrr!

I had RNY done today. Surgeon said my sleeve couldn't be fixed. I am tired and sore but for the first time in months I am able to sit down. Also, I dont feel nauseous! For the first time in 19 weeks!

I'm so happy to hear this!!! :) I've been so worried over your ordeal. Please stay in touch!

I'm not as upset now, but being in limbo stinks! Lol I'm on them like ink from a squid as of tomorrow; they've been ignoring me for 2 weeks. I'll go all the way to the top of Cayuga Med if that's what it takes to get a call back & straight answer from them. Come hell or high water! ;)

Good! Keep on them! I'm 10 days out from surgery and I'm doing fabulously! Moved to purée and mushy food! :D I'm 166 lbs there at the dr office. 26 lbs to my goal! Wow!!!

@mwrarr- any answers yet?!

@mommymook- I hope surgery went well for you! It was yesterday, right? Let us know how you're doing when you feel up to it! :)

Hey! Yea surgery was mon, i got out of hospital today. Im doing ok, sipping slowwwwly lol tummy feels like a funnel. Pain is there especially when i get up from standing n when i sit back down.

Mommymook- how's it going one week out?! Still sore I would bet! Hope it's going well otherwise!

Hey. Things are good. I'm pretty sore. Mostly from the bruising on my tummy from the heprin shots i got in the hospital, those suck. Im not able to sleep on my side yet so that does suck im not getting much sleep. I am down from day of surgery 20lbs, but ive lost 29 since being home bc i gained 9 in the hosp from fluids. Follow up next wed the 23rd.

Those shots are the worst!!! :( it's tough at first, but it'll continue to get better. And when you're ready really work on getting all your protein in. Makes a big difference with how you feel. :) soon you'll be sleeping better, I'm sure. I'm a tummy sleeper, and I was able to sleep like that when I got home- but a lot of people are still too sore.

Oh and I forgot to say, congrats on the 20lbs!!! Awesome!!!
