Dr Korn is my surgeon too! I was sleeved on April 16, 2013. I started with a BMI of 37, but I have co-morbid conditions--so surgery was a medical necessitity. I had some complications after surgery so I remained in the hospital for a full week. yuck!!

But the positive news is that I have lost 19lbs since surgery ( just 15 days!)!!

I was so excited to see fellow Idahoans on this site--but I see most have not been active for some time

If any locals are still active--please let me know! I am looking for co-encouragement ????????

My recovery has been a bit tougher than I imagined--I was hoping to go back to work May 3, but my doctor nixed that on the last visit--this past Tuesday.

I even wound up spending a full week in the hospital due to uncontrolled vomiting --yucky!

I feel a bit discouraged because I haven't rebounded as soon as my friends who got sleeved this year! ????

I'm here in Boise and I was "sleeved" on April 16, 2013. Today, I'm at the 3 week sleeveaniversary!

I just returned from seeing Bill (Dr Korn's PA) and he just nixed my thought of returning to work at least for another month! I'm bummed, but I had complications post-op in hospital, and still have complications so I can't compare myself to what I thought my ideal situation "should be."

On the positive side, I've lost 22 lbs since the surgery--so thrilled about that

I was a lowish BMI for qualifying for the surgery (36 BMI) but I have co-morbid conditions, including sleep apnea.

So why I said all this beforehand, is that I know that there are different "pre-op" diet protocols for every, individual case.

I can tell you that for me, they had me NPO (nothing by mouth) the entire day before surgery. I had my surgery on a Tuesday, and I could not eat or drink anything after I went to bed on Sunday night.

Hi, I'm in Boise. I was sleeved by Dr. Oakley on Jan 29. It's been rough these past 3 months. I don't eat much an am dehydrated on a daily basis. I definitely don't regret having the surgery . I would recommend it to anyone thinking about it. I've lost 55 lbs and don't have much more to hit my goal. This surgery is not the easy way out as people think. Just listen to your doctor and take it day by day.

It's nice to meet you! I heard wonderful things about Dr. Oakley! Congratulations on your 55 lb weight-loss.

I definitely understand about your 3 months being rough. I also have no regrets, but I have been plagued with frequent severe nausea.... My doc and medical team have struggled to find some meds or diet to, at a minimum, help ease the severe nausea. I have a severe allergy to Phenergren so that med has not been an option.

St. Luke's pharmacy came up a "cocktail" combination that I never heard of--even in my 20+ years as a RN. It really helped while I was inpatient at the hospital for a week, but my health insurance--UnitedHealth will not cover it--so I'd have to pay the $289.00 out of pocket!!

I have lost 22 lbs in the 3 weeks since the surgery. I do not regret having the surgery, but defiantly agree that one should always follow the instructions and directions from one's surgeon and medical team! They are an invaluable resource for sure!!

Wow congrats! If you don't mind my asking where did you start at? I'm excited about the surgery but I've been preparing for 6 months now and I understand that it's going to require a lot if hard work on my part.

I started at 230. I have about 25 lbs to go. The hardest thing is my brain has not caught up to my body size yet. Its still hard for me to see the amount of weight loss I've had. Who Is doing your surgery and do you have a date scheduled?

Dr Korn is doing my surgery Wednesday the 15th. Did your emotions get a little out of wack as your date got closer? I had little bouts of sadness yesterday but I've honestly never been happier. I think it's because I know a lot of my friendships are going to end, but if they can't accept that this is my choice for myself then they don't need to be a part of my life.

Dont worry about your family and friends. This is the time to take care of you! My kids and a lot of their friends were generally upset that I could even think of doing this surgery. That I was fine the way I was. But now they see me they are happy that I did this for me and only for me. The friends you may lose were really not your friends to begin with. My daughter laughs that I'm now such a cheap date. With my 3 bites of food I really rack up the bill. Lol. I'm driving my friend to her surgery monday morning. Just remember your doing this for you and you are the most important person in the world.

Mine did but I have zero regrets!

Hey good luck tomorrow, you'll do great. Just take one day at a time. Remember everyones journey is different. Listen to everyones advise and use what works for you. Keep us updated here on your recovery. =)

Thank you very much I'm just about to head over to the hospital. I kept waking up from having nightmares about eating chicken last night lol. The clear liquid diet wasn't as hard as I imagined it would be, but the Isopure Protein drinks really helped with the hunger too. Today is the first day of my improved healthier life and I couldn't be happier
