Dry Mouth

i am one week away from surgery (sept. 19th) and currently on the liquid pre op diet.

however, i have horrible dry mouth.

i am drinking more than 64 oz of Water a day...yet it is still really dry and I am afraid to talk to people for fear of bad breath.

Anyone else having an issue with this??? Any idea why???

Thanks,

I'm going through the exact same thing! It's more of chapped lips for me than dry mouth. I am meeting if not exceeding my 8glasses a day of water and meeting my calories..but I have never had lips/mouth this dry and chapped. Not sure why..

could it be because we are not actually chewing our food but instead drinking it?

Not making saliva causes you to feel as if you have none?

I just feel the need to brush my teeth 10 times a day.

And now that you mention it, I am using my chapstick more often.

Guess I would rather have dry mouth than diabites though...

That's normal...I went through that phase too.... I drank water more than I could eat, and didn't eat much to make room for more water... I was always thirsty... I also felt disgusted with my mouth.... my teeth felt like they were coated with something sticky, and I needed to chew something, and I did wash my teeth every 10 minutes.... I guess all that went away when I started my puree stage.... somewhile after that, I was talking about this with my mom, and she told me,, why didn't u just chew some gum.....stupid me :)

i think we all go through that I did after 2 weeks I swilled coke in my mouth as mad as it sound I was over it my sister just popped a can I said give it to me and fizzed it up in my mouth it was like my mouth came aliveeeeee!!!!!!

Has anyone tried Biotin (in the toothpaste/mouthwash section I think). I was taking it because of some medicine I was taking, and it helped.

*I mean Biotene
