does anyone else spit in a cup?????????

Yes, it's 3:30am and I decided it's time to find out if anyone has the same problem. When I feel food or water getting "stuck" I find that I get relief sooner if I don't swallow my saliva until I feel "clear". This means I look and act like a tobacco-chewer - spitting in a cup. I do this at restaurants, which is getting bothersome to my husband (can't imagine why :) ) I do it at home, right now in fact. I'm feeling a bit loopy right now, but would really like to know if this is common. I've been banded since March 30 - have had several fills and an unfill. I'm trying hard to master the band and am happy with the results... but it can be exhausting. Thank you for any replys.

Hi...My name is Susan and I am a spitter. :heh:

HECK YES! LOL....I have spit in a cup lots of times..keep one handy wherever I go...shoot its become a way of life and I am NOT TOO tight but just sometimes dont chew as I should....

I confess...I am a spitter....I got tired of getting up and down going back and forth to the bathroom...just easier to get that cup and spit

Today I go in for an unfill and then he will refill my band again. I don't know what is going on but my port area is a hurting a little and he thinks something is stuck in it, I wonder if that's possible?

No....I've never had to spit....although I only had my second fill today so lets see if that changes anything. :)

I never needed to spit until after my second fill.........sorry, don't mean to discourage....

Have a great day to all!

I wish I had a cup yesterday in the car. I spit the salavia into papertowels. That was the second time with this fill that I acutally had to pb outside of home. I was miserable trying to keep it in. I made it home and brought the 4 shrimp back up that I devoured. Whhhhhhh I want my shrimp, they were good going down.

I haven't had to do this yet! But yesterday, Had this weird feeling in my throat and pretty soon kinda felt like I was going to throw up (kinda sort of) I went out and spit and the episode was over. Is that what ya'll are talking about?

WOW, I didn't know all of this existed. This is the first I've seen on this subject. I have had two PBs, 6-9 days after a fill. I've slimed as a part of that. After that, I've just stopped eating or drinking. I never thought to spit out my saliva. The thought of having to do this is just gross to me. This just can't be a part of the "normal" existence with my lapband. Please tell me its not so. I've gone for 2 unfills and now know that my fills have to be small and further apart.

I'll get the cups for an emergency, but I sure hope I don't have to use them!

I had my 2nd fill 2 days ago, and have had a terrible time since then. I'm going to try the spitting idea. It never even occured to me that swallowing all the extra spit wasn't doing any good. While reading this thread, I've created a spit cup for myself as I'm trying to get a taco down for lunch.

:faint: :faint: :faint: One time I took a bit of a vienna sausage type thing from my 4 year old, who just wanted to share with Mommy, and than I felt a little stuck but thought I could drive home. Oh my I was stuck real bad 1/2 home, in my car, in the heat, with my 4 year old in the back seat.:guess When I came to a red light , I pulled over into the left turn lane, I grabbed an old coke cup my teenager left behind and thought it would never stop.:opps2: After that I keep a big 16 to 32 oz coke cup in my car. I have my teen pick up two when he gets his drinks at the gas station. You never know when it will get bad and I do not want it every where.:)

Good luck Brandy... and everyone. I put it off yet another day, but swear I'm going in Monday for a little unfill - I'm just tired of the spitting. I love this site - it's been sooo good to have feedback from everyone and to feel normal.

Hi yall,

I must be even a bigger weirdo. I dont barf, PB, throw up and only occasionally golf ball. However, I have slimed a couple of times over the last 3 years. I must have some kind of rubber esophagus... That cant be a good thing....

Hello all

I am a big time spitter. Unfortunetly is usually ends up getting sick for me right after. Its like a big build up of saliva then the food comes and after that boy I feel much better. But I think its embarrassing and my kids notice now what I am doin I gross my husband out but its better then making a mess if you can't make it to the bathroom.
