Oh and good luck with all the insurance changes. That's gotta not help matters. Hopefully they'll leave it be until after your surgery!

Thank you for the welcome. I found out my date yesterday, I am both thrilled and scared. I do

feel with all the research I have been doing over the last few months has been very informative

and helps me know more what to expect. Has anyone been to ECMC for their surgery….how is it?

I had surgery May of 2014 at ECMC. It was a great experience. They were very accommodating, the nurses were wonderful and the rooms were gorgeous! My room was like a hotel room, private and huge! I was very satisfied!

Jenngf5 hi and thanks so much for the info I sure appreciate it I hope the insurance issue is settled too I can't take anymore stress lol it's been months of jumping thru hoops and testing I just want it done already so I can move ahead it sounds like your doing very well it's great to hear I was worried about taking meds after so many ppl say they had trouble swallowing after dr says shouldn't be a problem tho I'm a little nervous I don't like staying in hospitals lol but no choice I guess we're u by yourself in a room or sharing? Hope your having a nice weekend!

I room shared with what I think was a frequent flyer to that floor. I wasn't in the hospital long enough though to really care. I got to my room maybe 130 Monday and was being wheeled out by 11am the next morning. I was determined not to be there any longer than possible and walked as soon as I got up the courage to move. But the stay on 15 was nice. They even let me sleep at night!!

They wouldn't send me home on pain meds, only liquid Tylenol. So my last dose was like at 4am. They let family stay and show up early too.

Sounds like you are getting those anxious feelings which are NORMAL!

Keep us posted!

Thank you for the info. I had checked out Sisters Hospital and then found out my doctor moved

to ECMC about a year ago.

You too were in ECMC? Do you need to request a private room or do you just get what they have?

My doctor said I would get a script for pain meds when I was discharged and should get it filled.

ECMC was the only option for me as that is the only place my doctor does surgery. They used to be out of sisters, changed to ECMC. I have Dr. Cavaretta through Synergy. They built new suites, they are actually on the transplant floor. They were wonderful and private! They did give scripts for pain meds and heartburn etc, before you leave. I know everyone is different, I was not in a lot of pain. Only pain was the gas! I had pain meds at night just to sleep because the gas was so uncomfortable.

I am through Synergy also, I have Dr. Caruana. Tomorrow I go to ECMC for my pre op testing.

Wednesday I go for my pre op workshop and start my Liver reduction diet on Monday.

Thank you for the information cuts down on the fear of the unknown.

Good luck butterfly. Take it one sip at a time.

No surgery yet. Just a date from the prior authorization of the 16th of Feb. What doctor do you have?

@@lavendermom3

I have Dr Caruana and my surgery is on the 12th. I did my pre op at ECMC this morning.

My pre op workshop is Wednesday.

Edited by butterfly125

When did they call you to tell you the surgery date? Fidelis called me with approval for the 16th of Feb. On Friday. No word from the Dr office yet.

Keep me posted on how you are doing pre op with the diet? Are you doing just liquids?

No. I am thru buffalo general kaleida health bariatric unit. But I've heard a lot of great things about ecmc and synergy. My insurance/referral was best thru buffalo general.
