Food "stuck"?

I'm pre-op still, but it feels like lately I have had food/bile stuck in the back of my throat. I expierenced this a while back, but it kind of seemed like a non issue for the past few years. (ironically that was during one of my successful weight loss attempts) It isnt heartburn because I rarely get that, so I can tottaly tell the difference. Any idea what is going on? Burping only makes it feel worse like something is about to come back up. Is this something to worry about or mention to my pcp? It isn't always like that but I really hate it when it happens. It goes away after a short while. But man does it feel nasty...

Sounds like heartburn to me. Or at the very least indigestion. Try an over the counter antacid and see if it helps.

I suggest you also discuss it with your surgeon. He/she may want you to have additional testing.

My surgeon put me on Prevacid before the surgery and wants me to stay on it for at least 6 months post-op to avoid problems like this.

Hopefully you can get things figured out. Good luck

Esophageal stricture? My whole family has esophageal issues -- my grandma, mom, and myself. I only have a hard time with a couple things, corn tortillas in particular. No matter how small the bite and how much I chew, and attempt to wash down with water, I hiccup and it feels stuck.
