Itchy Scalp Question

Hi everyone. I have been experiencing hair loss the last month ( I am ok with that, part of the deal) I am 17 weeks out but my issue is a REALLY itchy scalp, anyone else have that problem? It is so bad sometimes I am making it slightly raw. I have no visible dry skin or dandruff ( never had before either) If you have had this issue, what did you do to relieve the itching, it is driving me crazy. Thanks in advance!

My RNY friend swore her hair regrowth itched her like mad. That doesn't make a lot of sense because her hair had regrowth before her WLS and she never even thought twice about it but... she swore... :)

Any redness on your scalp?

The only redness is where I was itching the most. I am trying real hard not to itch so I can check it out. I was wondering that myself, hair growing back maybe itching? It doesnt seem like it is growing back yet but...

I had kinda the same thing, for 2 weeks post op my head itched like nothing i had even experienced.. i would it and it, use both hands to itch my head, i really thought i got lice from the hospital it was that bad... and the flakes and grease, not sexy at all... Finally after my 3rd week and lots of dandruff shampoo which i've never used it's gone... it was awful, i don't know if it was from all the drugs i was on, but it sucked.. :)

I'm not that far out and have not had the hair loss yet, but I have always had problems with the itchy scalp. I just tend to have sry skin in general. I prefer the neutragena medicated scalp shampoo, but any of the dandruff/medicated scalp shampoos and treatments canhelp. Also make sure to really message your scalp well when washing. Not only does it promote new growth, but also helps remove that dry skin that can cause the itching.
