So I had my sleeve done on may 15th. And so far in one week I have only lost 2 kg! I thought I would be loosing weight fast!

I am soo with you! I was sleeved on April 30th and lost 6 pounds the first week. I thought "great!" that's an awesome start. Then the next week nothing and the next week nothing... I have given advice to others about how the weight will come off and everyone has plateaus, etc. But after weighing in on Monday and seeing another week at the same weight I am also very discouraged. I would love to hear if any other folks had the same experience and if they lost good later. My fear is that next Monday I will down a pound or something and will lose 5 or 6 pounds a month which I could do on my own and eat some better things. Not feeling like like positive self today for sure. I keep having headaches every other day that are really getting on my nerves also. I'd kill for an Advil.

I am sure when some other folks respond you will get some good reports and we will both get some encouragement. I am glad to hear I am not alone. You hang in there!!

I'm with u on the headaches so now I'm making a conscious effort to hit my goal for fluids, on top of the headaches I'm always tired. I had my surgury May 7th, 15 days post op today and I've lost about 20 lbs, but I walk a lot. (not since the headaches these last few days) but I think walking helps with the weight loss. Stay positive guys, things will work out.

PrissyMz, So you have headaches also? Are they different from headaches you've had in the past? I get migraines sometimes but this is different. I think I am doing ok with liquids. We are having a storm coming in tonight and the low pressure that began last night might be to blame, I am trying to figure out what causes them. Then seem to come on overnight so it doesn't seem likely that it is caused by stress. Anyway, it got better but returned about 2pm. I have ended up taking my liquid pain meds from surgery this evening. It is helping a little but not much. Hope yours gets better and congrats on your great weight loss and the walking. I've been a slug lately. LOL

I haven't been able to get much walking in lately and yes the headache I have now pails in comparison to one of my migraines, it's just annoying. It feels like I'm dizzy, nautious and queasy all at the same time . The only thing I could contribute it to is lack of liquids.

Kysia81: I feel your pain! I to had surgery on the 15th and have lost between 6 to 10 pds giving the day. I feel like I can eat more then everyone else to. For instance a can of broth and then a pudding cup. I'm not sick or nasueated. Geez... This certainly isn't easy.

Ladies with the headaches: could it be a caffeine headache? We're you a caffeine drinker prior to surgery? Also, are you getting 64 oz of fluids--you might need to focus on fluids.

Search for "not losing" or something similar. You will see countless explanations of what's going on. This topic comes up several times a day and many good explanations (both summary and detail) have been provided.

Freshly post-op you're probably dehydrated, and even very mild dehydration will cause headaches. Most people don't realize that when they take Tylenol, often it's the glass of Water that does more good.

Really? Even mild dehydration? Because the first night I got a headache happened to be a day I had cried a lot. My only day of crying really. It was the first week and hormones you know.. Anyway, I thought because (excuse the TMI) that since my urine was not bright yellow that it wasn't the fluids. But maybe later on during the night the crying caught up with me. I will pay closer attention and see if this is a pattern. Thanks! And thanks everyone else who said it may be the fluids. I hope it is as simple as that..

Nah never been a caffeine or soda person, I'm quite sure it's lack of fluids....which is hard for me to get in

Shhhh! You're ruining the whole wonder drug business. But you are right. 30+ years ago I used to fast for days on end. My answer to any problem while fasting was a big old slug o' water and it always worked.

Everybody complaining about weight loss just be patient. The body is a complicated thing and it's went through quite an ordeal. It has to adjust. Trust me !!! One day you will be like me! I'm a year and a half out and I'm wondering if my body is going to know when to stop losing weight !!!! I'm becoming very concerned with that. It is impossible for me to gain weight. I was a slow loser with stalls all the way. And I once worried whether I would lose the weight now im fearing the opposite. However , none the less I consistently went down no matter what I ate. I never once gained even a pound.

Just the tiniest dip into our Fluid levels throws our bodies for major, major loops. Mild dehydration" is only classified as 1% - 2% of your body's total Water volume. That's how little of an amout we're talking about. Lose more than about 12% and you're not going to be around much longer.

Symptoms

may include headaches similar to what is experienced during a hangover, decreased blood pressure (hypotension), and dizziness or fainting when standing up due to orthostatic hypotension. Untreated dehydration generally results in delirium, unconsciousness, swelling of the tongue and, in extreme cases, death.

Dehydration symptoms generally become noticeable after 2% of one's normal water volume has been lost. Initially, one experiences thirst and discomfort, possibly along with loss of appetite and dry skin. This can be followed by constipation. Athletes may suffer a loss of performance of up to 30%^[6] and experience flushing, low endurance, rapid heart rates, elevated body temperatures, and rapid onset of fatigue.

The symptoms become increasingly severe with greater water loss. One's heart and respiration rates begin to increase to compensate for decreased plasma volume and blood pressure, while body temperature may rise because of decreased sweating. At around 5% to 6% water loss, one may become groggy or sleepy, experience headaches or nausea, and may feel tingling in one's limbs (paresthesia). With 10% to 15% fluid loss, muscles may become spastic, skin may shrivel and wrinkle (decreased skin turgor), vision may dim, urination will be greatly reduced and may become painful, and delirium may begin. I find it interesting to follow the progress of someone that didn't have a huge amount of weight to lose. It seems that the surgery is quite effective for people in your situation. Congratulations on your success.
