3 Weeks Post-Op And Having Doubts

Hi! I joined this site because I'm having some mental issues with my sleeve. I'm 3 weeks out and I've lost 22 lbs. I've been doing pretty good with not overeating, though I did advance myself to the soft/mushy stage a little early :) My problem is, I'm almost grieving for the lost of food. I know this sounds terrible, and I feel pretty foolish, but I cant help it. I cant believe how much time I spent eating before. My program, Mercy Health Weight Solutions in Fairfield, OH is awesome, I get 6 months free in their healthplex, and I think that would help me because then I would feel more proactive about things, but I wont be released til June 9th to be able to do that and I'm sooo bored. All I can think about is how 5 weeks ago I would have been making this and that but I cant do that now. I know I need to focus on other things, but its there all the time in the back of my mind, no matter what I'm doing. I miss spaghetti like it was a lost friend or something and then I feel irritated with myself for not being happy with a 22lb loss in 3 weeks. I was SO not prepared for what life would be like after. I eat 3 triscut crackers with some cheese and Im full, but my head is telling me there is no way I can be satisfied by this :( Can anyone tell me if they had these same feelings and if they went away the further along they got??

I am 10 weeks post op, and what I've come to realize is that change is hard, even "good" change. Someone on this board has said more than once that they operate on our stomachs, not our brains. Thi

Mk ,

This not related to your post but I got excited because you are using the mercy health in fairfield where I live and just wanted to say hello! I was going use them but I was wanting to use drcurry for lapband but changed to sleeve a few weeks ago. Anyways just got happy when I saw the Fairfield Ohio. :)

I LOVE Dr Northup at Mercy. They have such a great program there and its all geared to people that are overweight. The people that work in the office and the nutritionists and Ann, the patient care advocate are great. Where are you having your surgery done at? The nurses were great at Mercy too. All in all it was a great experience, considering it was surgery, lol. I never felt judged for being there for weight loss surgery. Good luck! Its hard, but I know in the long run it will be well worth it!

I went through the same thing a month after surgery, I realized how much I was a "mental eater", I couldn't eat like before but I was craving Everything you could think of, I felt like I was in detox or something. I thought after this surgery a lot of the cravings would go away, Nope! not for me! Now I am about 10wks out I am in a comfortable place now. I eat my Proteins first (including a Protein shake) but I eat the proteins I want, soft crab meat, eggs, fish, etc. I don't measure anything I just take the bites I can and I'm usually done after 3 to 4 bites anyway, but I do this every 3 to 3 1/2 hrs, I noted after the 4th week my weight loss slowed down because I wasn't eating enough calories to burn off my weight but now its going okay, I do sneak in a hershey kiss every once in a while I still crave chocolate but after one or two a day (depending on what time of the month it is) I'm good. What I used to crave I don't feel for anymore, I haven't eaten rice or breads since before the surgery, I have no taste for them anymore, I'm not a big starch eater like I was which I'm really glad for.

Gotta have patience with this new life. After a while we all will get used to the new "Sleeved Life" and it won't be a problem anymore, its just the journey thats a little bumpy.

God Bless MK we are all in this together!!! :D

I'm having mine done at fast track weightloss center in Cincinnati with dr. Curry . I really like him and his staff. If I never had interest in the lapband then I would have seen your dr. Because I live less than a mile from there. Haha I'm glad all went well with you. And happy to hear of your weightloss. :) this time next year our lives will not be the same!
