Newbie With Questions

I have so many questions after reading about the verticle sleeve. Firstly, I am not sure where to turn. Secondly, I have irritable bowel severly which has cost me to go onto SS disability. At times the pain is excrucitating. I am either flowing or not going at all. I am on meds but they don't always work. Does anyone know if this type of surgery would help with the painful bowel movements. I watch what I eat and yet I still cannot lose weight. I want to feel better and am reaching out for any help I can get. Thank You. Also is there months of prep for this surgery and I have been reading about how painful it is.

The months of prep depend on yuor insurance company and the doc. A lot of people have to go through a 3-6 month diet plan first. My insurance company/doc didn't require that, but the insurance company did make me go through a lot of tests, and a psych evaluation. Mostly to cover their butts, HOWEVER, they test so many things that you certainely come out on the other end knowing EVERYTHING there is to now about your health and body.

Regarding the bowel movements (BM) a lot of people, including me (however I'm only a month out from surgery) go back and forth between the big D to constipation. The doc said its normal as your body heals from surgery. I'm not sure about long term though.
