I Definitely Regret Surgery.... So Far!

*****UPDATE****** feb 2nd, 2012

i now have a leak & a stent was placed in. feeling horrible!!! the below post is the least of my worries now!

im going crazy.. :(

i was sleeved dec 20th. everything was ok until maybe a week after coming home from the hospital. i realized that i was extremely exhausted and always felt faint. it didnt really start hitting me hard until last week. everyone keeps telling me that it will get better but it feels like its getting worse! i keep trying to "stay positive" but how much more of this can i take? i want to feel normal again!!!!

i noticed that when i walk, im like dragging my feet. im so weak and faint. almost like my thighs might just give out.

i also have excessive gas which i think is making me really nauseous. the burps are just crazy. i cant eat or sip without burping.. then it wont stop until i take some gas x chewables. i live off those chewables.

as far as shakes, i cant tolerate them. ive tried so many different ones & i throw them up. they absolutely repulse me!

i do eat but i have to be "in the mood" to eat whatever is in front of me or i will just throw it up. my stomach is extremely weak! i cant even tolerate Soups. they turn my stomach too.

i called my surgeon & told him how im feeling & he told me im dehydrated. told me to get on gatorade for a week & see how i feel then. im going in thursday morning to see the nurse practioner.

the gas & the gatorade mixed is making me very nauseous.

i take 20mg of prilosec in the morning, 2- Multivitamins & 1- B12.

im so so so so so so tired of this! i truly regret surgery. i never thought id feel like this but i do. :(

i work in xray and see more complications from bypass than sleeve, having a bypass is not necessarily going to fix the problems from the sleeve

I am really new here, and just looking into getting the sleeve, and I haven't read this entire thread. What do they do for a leak? And I am sorry you are going through this :(

the surgeon would have to repair the leak through another surgery, most likely with more staples or glue

however, before the surgery make sure you ask your surgeon what precautions are taken to prevent leaks

my surgeon did a triple staple and applied a glue substance for added protection. i have had great success and its been almost 1 year. good luck to you

they place a stent (tube) in ur esophagus that leads down into ur stomach to cover up the leak while it heals itself.

its kinda pathetic when you want to cry your eyes out but think of wasting all that time to try & stay hydrated to waste it on tears. (sighs)

Wow, sounds like you have been through the ring a few times. I had some issues myself. I actually have moved since my surgery, I am at the 5 month mark, so need to find a new local doctor asap. However, I should add, I was losing weight faster then I was supposed to. The doctor insisted I needed more calories. I can tolerate the carnation instant breakfast protein shakes, they go down well now. I was also upped to 40 mg of nexxium and 1 prilosec a day. This has helped immensely with the GERD. I really hope you get to feeling better. The blood is not a good thing, I think a call in or an ER visit may be needed. I had a bleed the day after mine, and was vomiting a lot of blood. My vitals were also crazy, so they didn't hesitate to bring me back in. I also have had a few issues with dehydration. Not anymore though, I have learned has taken time. Things are easier and I am understanding my body much more. I really hope things get better for you.

It sounds like the stent is just compounding your situation at the moment. Is there any way they (and you!) would considering NPO and getting tubed? I know it's not ideal, but with the way you are struggling not to vomit and to stay hydrated it seems like at this point it may be the lesser or two evils.

Sorry you're dealing with all of this :(

they said i dont need to be & wouldnt even considerit. idk wat being tubed is like. i think most likely, id say no. i was able to eat some dinner & keep it down. i also ate a large fast food cup full of ice. i wonder if the antibiotics is making me sick. antibiotics usually does make me sick but im on liquid form & the nausea isnt automatically after taking it. i have to take a teaspoon every 12hrs for 10 days. today has gotten better after evening hit. lets see how tonight goes!!

Reglan is used for a few things, including increasing milk production. I used it for that (didn't help me much).

well thank goodness your doctors can care for you! hope this is all over soon.

i was thinking of having a vsg, but after reading this, lol, i think i'm gonna try to lose my weight naturally. i couldn't handle a complication. thank you for telling the truth about how awful this surgery is!

i actually made it through the night without throwing up!!! i woke up and my tv was still on and some preacher happened to be on & all i heard him say was "if u want to be healed, put your hand out & say..." & i did!!! lol. i did have extra saliva in my mouth & when i swallowed it & kept swallowing, i did gag. thats it. i ended up falling back asleep til now. im up & not feeling nauseous but do feel the acid when i burp. i think when i get up to brush my teeth, i may throw up. :/ & i never took reglan last night as they say u should before bed. i wanted to see if i would make it without it.
