I am 9 days post op. I have been on a clear liquid diet since and was told to add Protein shakes back in on day 8. Well, I am really struggling getting them down. Pre op I didn't have any problems with them I would add milk to them and it was fine. Post op the surgeon allows for Water only to be mixed for a total of a 4oz shake since he says it is quicker to get down and protein will lose efficacy if sitting out to long. I do have a variety of different flavors and brands and they all seem to smell and taste bad no matter what flavoring (crystal light, flavored splenda, torani syrup) I add doesn't make it better. I even tried the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken broth. I am literally pinching my nose and throwing the shake back in the medicine cup. It takes me about an hour. I broke down today and bought a premade Muscle milk for some protein even though premade shakes are a no on the doctor's list. It says it contains no milk, oddly enough and it's first ingredient is water.
Did any of you have issues with this? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
