A PRE-OP VICTORY YEAH FOR ME

Recommended Posts

:P I am still in my pre-op stage of VSG with 1 more supervised PCP visit for my insurance required 6 supervised diet visits. So far I have lost 49 pounds as I have been "practicing" eating as I will after surgery. I went to my PCP Friday and was taken off my high blood pressure medicine. I am so excited!!!!!! I have been on HBP meds for over 20 years so this is BIG for me. I just had to share for those who are Preopers like me, you can do this and it is worth the preparation to get that smaller liver, lose what you can before surgery and change those habits now. Eating slow and sipping are the hardest for me, but I am still working on it. Thanks for all the support each of you give on this site. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!!!

Wow - you've really lost a lot in your pre-op phase! That's fantastic. And twenty years of taking meds - what a wonderful feeling it must have been to be told no more! Congratulations!! You body is really responding to the weight loss. Eating slowly and sipping are my toughest things too. That's not how I've done it for 40+ years. It's going to take some real presence of mind to remember. Started my pre-op diet today. This was a good post to read to keep me positive, because I'm HUNGRY. ;)

Good for you! ANd I second what the others said about losing well ahead of time. I lost 53lbs before surgery and am soooo glad. Now, people see me losing and won't notice as much and also I am dropping sizes already at 1 week out. I got the big sizes out of the way. I went shopping today and was buying 16's, 14's and 12's.....at one week post op!! I also recovered fast, not sure if that is the reason why, but I"m glad. You will be too.

[Congratulations SMG2011,

that is fantastic news and so encouraging for the rest of us just starting our pre op diets. I have been following your lead and "practicing" eating the 'after surgery way' too. I have been trying really hard and am noticing some changes already. You must be soooooo delighted to be off your HBP medication. Do you have a date for your surgery yet?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
