I'm scheduled for surgery w/Dr. Almanza Aug. 3rd. Does anybody know or plan to follow up (post op care) with a local physician? I don't know if I should call my family care practitioner when I get back to the States.

Thanks~

I am pre-sleeve but from what I have read you should see you GP (general physician/practitioner) about 2 weeks post op just to many sure you are ok, check your blood work, etc. Then your GP should monitor your CBC and other levels regularly thereafter to make sure you don't become malnourished, dehydrated etc. The beauty of the sleeve is you are not in and out constantly getting adjusted but for at least awhile (not sure how often of for how long, you may want to ask your surgeon about that) you need to keeps tabs on your blood work so that you know what your body is lacking that it needs.

Someone, please, correct me if I am wrong but from what I have read that's what *I* have gleaned from it. HTH! Good luck!!

I told my PCP three days before surgery and asked her to do the followup. She said fine, and that was that. She's pretty happy about my lab numbers, all the bad stuff is going down and the good stuff is going up! I had labs at 2 weeks post, 3 months post, and 6 months post.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
