Federal BCBS

Can anyone tell me your experience as far as getting insurance to cover the WLS? I have it all done! The insurance lady just has to submit my info to the insurance company and then I wait.....and wait.......and wait. That's the hardest part!

The lady at the Bariatric center turned in all my information on Friday July 1st, Friday. I was thought the 4th of July holiday would slow down the process. Tuesday morning I received a call and was told I was approved. I was shocked. My husband works for the government and we have Federal BCBS. I was blown away, it was approved so fast.

Good Luck!

I was approved within a week of my paperwork being submitted, so was my mother, her surgery date is August 25th.

I am a federal employee also and was approved in one week like most others have said. If you haven't heard from your surgery scheduler in a weeks time, I would call them back, you may have already been approved. In my case I called them and found out I was approved, but the scheduler was just too busy to call back right away. I know it can make us all crazy waiting to get that approval, it is all you can think about until you have an answer! Just remember, your Dr. may have 50 patients trying to get approved at the same time you are, so be assertive but pleasant and call them back so you don't have to wait on on them- you may be the 50th patient on the list!
